The Problem with Penguins

Move over, Enola Holmes—Shearwater Bay has a new PI.

Eleven-year-old Paisley Partridge is destined for greatness. She’s going to be Australia’s premier private investigator, or maybe prime minister. But first, she has to survive Year Five.

When Paisley misses out on getting her ideal teacher, Mr Perkins, she’s stuck with the highly suspicious new teacher, Miss Wyatt. Paisley is convinced Miss Wyatt is a spy sent to undermine the school’s NAPLAN scores.

But Miss Wyatt isn’t the only problem in town. Shearwater Bay’s only tourist attraction, the little penguins, are mysteriously vanishing. Are the two events connected? Paisley and her best friend, Connor, are on the case to expose the truth—and perhaps get a transfer into 5/6P.

There’s just one problem: everywhere Paisley turns, Winnie Stewart is there. Can Paisley outsmart her rival, rescue the penguins, unmask the imposter teacher, and finally realise her dream of a life-sized bronze statue in the courtyard of Shearwater Bay Primary? Or will it be a statue of Winnie, holding a ukulele?
